Sigri, surely a few words are not enough to describe the images and feelings that arise in anyone who finds themselves in this magical place. A small picturesque “fishing village”, with natural beauty, with a different air, with its own color, with a different style, forgotten by time, cut off from the rest of the island. It is located at the western end of Lesbos, 94 km from Mytilini.
Its name comes from the Venetian word “seguro”, the safe harbor as it was characterized at that time. Sigrion his current official name. A name not accidental as the islands “Megalonisi” or “Nisiopi” mainly, but also “Sidousa” offer safety to this natural port and to the sailors who arrived.

The village has a beautiful organized beach with fine sand and relatively shallow waters suitable for small children which is also accessible for people with mobility difficulties. Apart from the central beach, the surrounding area is “hidden” by the most beautiful and deserted beaches of the island with fine sand, and clear blue waters such as Limenas, Plaka, Telegrafos and further away Tsichlionta. On the northern route we meet the wonderful beach “Faneromeni” in the middle of which is built in a small cave, the church of Panagia tis Faneromeni, but also the hidden beach “Andromachi”. All are ready to welcome them and want to discover these unspoiled natural landscapes.
For lovers of spearfishing and spearfishing, Sigri is the paradise for such activities, in Lesbos. If you also have a boat… the experience is heightened.
For surfers, there is almost every day during the summer months, a 4-5 B surfboard and a school within the village. Ideal beaches for Surfing are Limani, Limenas and Faneromeni.
